Hi folks! When I first began producing this open mic one of my main missions was to make it as easy as possible for folks to participate.

The feedback I got from most prospective participants is that Tuesday isn’t a good night for folks in Buenos Aires. So, I wanted to let you all know that I have a few announcements to this effect.

Open mics on pause this April

To focus on lettings folks know about our new schedule, Clari and I are pausing open mics this April. However….

We’re doing our first-ever benefit show

A few weeks ago I (Ingrid) participated in a benefit show for Noah, a two year-old boy whose parents are trying to get him to Monterey, MX to get healthcare for a traumatic brain injury he sustained during his birth.

To help out with their costs, our next showcase on Thursday, April 16, will be a benefit show to help Noah’s family relocate to Mexico from Argentina. All proceeds from the event will go to Noah and his parents. I’ll send a follow-up email once tickets for this show are ready, including ways folks can donate if they can’t make it.

New mic schedule - MAY

Legally Funny’s rules will remain the same: 10 spots, 7 minutes each. Our location will also remain the same: Miss Venezuela Teatro Bar, Humboldt 2431 (Palermo Hollywood).

The mic will be every other Thursday with these new hours:

Doors: 21:30

Mic starts: 22:00

The show will also book a featured guest whenever possible. Sometimes the guest will be local to the scene, other times it might be an international visitor, and other times there won’t be a guest (but we’ll make every effort to highlight someone!).

End of the month writer hang

This is an idea I’m working on. The hang itself will be free and involve no more than 6 writers at a time, with 3 willing to share their work. I’m looking for a place that can accommodate a small group of writers who want the chance to work on their material (standup, poetry, etc) in English. If worse comes to worse, I’ll probably open up my home for this but that would mean this event won’t be open to anyone with cat allergies.
